Kyeema Conservation Park VKFF-0826
On Saturday 21st October 2023, Marija VK5MAZ and I activated the Kyeema Conservation Park VKFF-0826 for the 2023 VKFF Team Championship.
Above:- Map showing the location of the Kyeema CP. Map c/o Google maps.
We have activated Kyeema a number of times previously, but it was close to home and suited us as we had a big day planned for Sunday with the Bay to Birdwood Classic Car Rally.
For more information on the Kyeema Conservation Park, please have a look at my previous post……
We set up in our normal spot off Woodgate Hill Road. There is a nice clearing here with plenty of room to string out the dipole antenna.

We ran the Yaesu FT857, 40 watts, and the 20/40/80m linked dipole.
We made a total of 72 QSOs between us. This included 12 Park to Park contacts.
The highlight of the activation was to work the special event station ZL6WG, promoting the 2024 NZART Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Woofferton Transmitting Station UK 80-year anniversary broadcast- 15245 kHz & 17785 kHz
At about 1330 UTC on 17th October 2023, I tuned in to a special 80-year anniversary broadcast from Encompass Media at the Woofferton Transmitting Station UK, broadcasting in the English language on 15245 kHz.
The Woofferton transmitting station is located near the Shropshire-Herefordshire border.

Below are three videos on the history of the Woofferton transmitting station.
The overall reception was fair. The Voice of Korea was broadcasting on the same frequency in the English language and this caused moderate interference and affected listening pleasure.

I also tried an alternate frequency of 17785 kHz where the target area was Europe. The signal was much weaker.

Voice of Turkey – 15450 kHz
At about 1237 UTC on 17th October 2023, I tuned in to the Voice of Turkey, broadcasting in the English language on 15450 kHz.
The broadcast consisted of the news, a review of the Turkish Press, and music.
The overall reception of the Voice of Turkey was fair. This was due to the apparent deliberate ‘jamming’ of the signal. The signal became stronger as the broadcast went on.
