Woofferton Transmitting Station UK 80-year anniversary broadcast- 15245 kHz & 17785 kHz

At about 1330 UTC on 17th October 2023, I tuned in to a special 80-year anniversary broadcast from Encompass Media at the Woofferton Transmitting Station UK, broadcasting in the English language on 15245 kHz.

The Woofferton transmitting station is located near the Shropshire-Herefordshire border.

Woofferton transmitting station, near Ludlow, was built by the BBC during WWII. It made its first overseas broadcast on the 17th day of October 1943.

Below are three videos on the history of the Woofferton transmitting station.

The overall reception was fair. The Voice of Korea was broadcasting on the same frequency in the English language and this caused moderate interference and affected listening pleasure.

I also tried an alternate frequency of 17785 kHz where the target area was Europe. The signal was much weaker.

Below is a video showing my reception on 15245 kHz.
