Radyo Denge Gel – 11510 kHz

At about 1401 UTC on the 13th day of July 2024, I tuned in to the Radyo Denge Gel, broadcasting on 11510 kHz in the Kurdish language.

The signal was coming from the Tashkent 100kW transmitter in Uzbekistan. (Short Wave Info 2023)

Denge Gel means ‘Voice of the People’. It replaced Denge Welat ‘Voice of the Homeland’ in September 2023, which had replaced Denge Kurdistane in October 2017. It was originally launched as Denge Mezopotamya in September 2012. The station broadcasts in support of ‘Parttiya Karkeren Kurdistane’ (PKK) – the Kurdistan Workers Party which strives for the establishment of an independent state of Kurdistan, consisting of territories that are currently part of Eastern Turkey, Northern Iraq, Western Iran, and Northern Syria. (WRTH 2024)

The broadcast consisted of music.

The overall reception of Radyo Denge Gel was good.   The signal strength was good, and there was only slight fading of the signal. There was no interference from stations on adjacent frequencies. There was only slight atmospheric noise on the band.
