Adventist World Radio – 15505 kHz

At about 1427 UTC on the 29th day of June 2024, I tuned in to Adventist World Radio broadcasting on 15505 kHz in the English language.

The signal was coming from the Dushabe-Or 1kW transmitter in Tajikistan. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of Adventist World Radio was fair.   The signal strength was good, however, there was some sort of squealing noise on the frequency and this severely affected listening pleasure.  There was only slight fading of the signal.

Radio Free Asia – 9330 kHz

At about 1240 UTC on 29th June 2024, I tuned in to Radio Free Asia (RFA), broadcasting in the Kmer language on 9330 kHz.

The signal was coming from the Tinian Island 250kW transmitter in the Northern Mariana Islands. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of RFA was very poor.  The signal strength was fair, however there was apparent deliberate interference on the frequency in the form of a loud and constant siren.  There was also interference from WBCQ broadcasting on the same frequency.  This made listening pleasure very difficult.

Radio Free Asia – 13580 kHz

At about 1159 UTC on 29th June 2024, I tuned in to Radio Free Asia (RFA), broadcasting in the Tibetan language on 13580 kHz.

The signal was coming from the Dushanbe 200kW transmitter in Tajikistan. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of RFA was fair.   The signal strength was fair.  There appeared to be some form of interference on the frequency – unsure if this was deliberate interference.  There was moderate fading of the signal and moderate atmospheric noise on the band.

WWCR – 9980 kHz

At about 1159 UTC on the 22nd day of June 2024, I tuned in to WWCR in the United States of America, broadcasting in the English language on 9980 kHz.

The signal was coming from the Nashville, Tennessee 100kW transmitter. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The program consisted of Country & Western music.

The overall reception of WWCR was good. The signal strength was strong and there was slight interference from other stations. There was only slight fading on the signal.

VMW – 6230 kHz

At about 1231 UTC on the 18th day of June 2024, I tuned in to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology’s marine weather HF radio service VMW from Wiluna, Western Australia broadcasting on 6230 kHz.

VMW broadcasts for broadcasts for the High Seas for the Northern, Western and Southern high seas areas, and Coastal Waters areas off South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory.

China National Radio CNR8 – 5975 kHz

At about 1134 UTC on the 18th day of June 2024, I tuned in to China National Radio CNR8, broadcasting in the Korean language on 5975 kHz.

The signal was coming from the Beijing 100kW transmitter. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of CNR8 was good.  The signal strength was good and there was no interference on the frequency from other stations or stations on adjacent frequencies.  There was only slight fading of the signal.  There were very slight static crashes on the band.

Radio Prague International – 5010 kHz

At about 1130 UTC on the 16th day of June 2024, I tuned in to Radio Prague International, broadcasting in the Spanish language on 5010 kHz.

The signal was coming from the Okeechobee, Florida USA 100kW transmitter. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception Radio Prague International was poor.   The signal strength was only fair-poor and there was severe interference from other stations. Static crashes on the band also made listening difficult.

The overall reception of Adventist World Radio was fair.   The signal strength was fair and there was only slight fading of the signal. However, there were moderate static crashes on the band.
