Vatican Radio – 11805 kHz

At about 1235 UTC on Monday the 12th day of August 2024, I tuned in to Vatican Radio, broadcasting on 11805 kHz in the Russian language.

The signal was coming from the Tinang 250 kW transmitter in the Philippines. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of Vatican Radio was poor.   The signal strength was good but there was quite severe interference from All India Radio broadcasting on 11810 kHz in the Pashto language.

China Radio International – 11650 kHz

At about 1215 UTC on Monday the 12th day of August 2024, I tuned in to China Radio International, broadcasting on 11650 kHz in the English language.

The signal was coming from the Urumqi Hutubi 500 kW transmitter in China. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of China Radio International was good. The signal strength was very strong and there was no fading of the signal. There was no interference from other stations.

KTWR – 9975 kHz

At about 1220 UTC on Sunday the 11th day of August 2024, I tuned in to KTWR, broadcasting on 9975 kHz in the Japanese language.

The signal was coming from the Merizo 100 kW transmitter in the Northern Mariana Islands. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of KTWR was poor.   The signal strength was good and there was only slight fading of the signal.  However, there was severe interference from WWCR broadcasting in the English language on 9980 kHz. There was also a radio teletype signal on the frequency.

Reach Beyond Australia – 11905 kHz

At about 1145 UTC on Sunday the 11th day of August 2024, I tuned in to Reach Beyond Australia, broadcasting on 11905 kHz in the Burmese language.

The signal was coming from the Kununurra 100 kW transmitter in Western Australia. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of Reach Beyond Australia was excellent. The signal strength was very strong and there was no fading of the signal. There was no interference on the frequency or from adjacent frequencies until 1158 UTC when China Radio International commenced broadcasting on 11910 kHz in the Amoy language. They totally wiped out Reach Beyond Australia which fortunately was concluding their transmission.

Radio Romania International – 17630 kHz

At about 1100 UTC on Sunday the 11th day of August 2024, I tuned in to Radio Romania International, broadcasting on 17630 kHz in the English language.

The signal was coming from the Tiganesti 100 kW transmitter in Romania. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of Radio Romania International was fair.   The signal strength was fair. There was only slight fading of the signal and no interference from other stations.

At about 1400 UTC on Saturday the 10th day of August 2024, I tuned in to the BBC World Service, broadcasting on 15310 kHz in the English language.

The signal was coming from the Al Seela 250 kW transmitter in Oman. (Short Wave Info 2023)

The overall reception of the BBC was good.   The signal strength was good and there was only slight fading of the signal.

KSDA – 15255 kHz

At about 1305 UTC on Saturday 10th August 2024, I tuned in to KSDA Adventist World Radio broadcasting in the Nepali language on 15255 kHz.

The broadcast was coming from the Dushanbe-orzu 100kW transmitter in Tajikistan.

The overall reception of Adventist World Radio was good. The signal strength was excellent but there was a continual noise on the frequency and this affected listening pleasure.

At about 0855 UTC on Saturday 10th August 2024, I tuned in to NHK World Japan broadcasting in the Japanese language on 15280 kHz.

The broadcast was coming from NHK World Japan’s Ibaragi-Koga-Yamata 300kW transmitter.
