Aircraft – 5643 kHz

At about 0928 UTC on Monday, 11th August 2025, I tuned in to Auckland Radio on 5643 kHz. This frequency is used in the South Pacific Major World Route Area (MWARA).

This frequency is shared by Auckland, San Francisco, Brisbane, and Clipperton.

I was able to clearly copy Auckland Radio with a strong signal.

I also copied one transmission from San Francisco Radio.

I was also able to hear aircraft flying across the Tasman Sea from the following airlines:

  • Hainan Airlines
  • Jetstar
  • Qantas

You often hear the SELCAL tones. Selective Calling (SELCAL) is a system used in aviation to alert aircraft crews to incoming radio communications.

Below is a short video of what I heard.
