The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) is the official radio broadcaster of the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation was founded in 1976, replacing the Solomon Islands Broadcasting System (SIBS).

Voice of Indonesia – 3325 kHz

At about 1315 UTC on Saturday 8th July 2023, I tuned in to the Voice of Indonesia broadcasting in the English language on 3325 kHz.

Indonesia declared its independence on the 17th day of August 1945. Soon after, M. Jusuf Ronodipuro and Dr. Abdulrahman Saleh, launched the Voice of Free Indonesia on the 23rd day of August 1945. In 1950, Voice of Free Indonesia was renamed the Voice of Indonesia.

At about 1255 UTC on Saturday 8th July 2023, I tuned in to an Unknown station broadcasting on 2370 kHz.

I did not hear any announcers, just Greek music being played. Any help in identifying this station would be appreciated.

The overall reception of this station was fair.

Unique Radio Australia is a non-commercial shortwave radio station that broadcasts on 5035 kHz and 3210 kHz. More information can be found on their website at…..

Radio Nacional da Amazonia – 6180 kHz

At about 0806 UTC on Saturday 8th July 2023, I tuned in to Radio Nacional da Amazonia BRAZIL, broadcasting in the Portuguese language on 6180 kHz.

Rádio Nacional da Amazônia was inaugurated on the 1st day of September 1977. It broadcasts on shortwave to the Amazon region with a potential 60 million listeners.

National Unity Radio – 7200

At about 1342 UTC on Friday 7th July 2023, I tuned in to National Unity Radio, SOUTH KOREA broadcasting in the Korean language on 7200 kHz.

National Unity Radio has been on air since December 2005, and was initially launched as Radio Free Chosun (RFC). On the 22nd day of October 2015, it was renamed National Unity Radio. The station is a project of the United States Congress-funded NGO unification media group, which was co-founded by RFC together with Open R. for North Korea (and two other South Korean media outlets) in November 2014.

The overall reception of National Unity Radio was poor. This was mostly due to an apparent jamming signal on the frequency.

Echo of Hope, SOUTH KOREA – 6350 kHz

At about 1319 UTC on Friday 7th July 2023, I tuned in to the Echo of Hope, SOUTH KOREA, broadcasting in the Korean language, on 6350 kHz.

The station was originally launched as Voice of Reunification, and was renamed Echo of Hope in 1973. It is operated by the South Korean National Intelligence Service.

The broadcast was coming from the Jeongnam 100kW transmitter in South Korea.

The overall reception of the Echo of Hope was good.

Radio Vanuatu – 7260 kHz

At about 0749 UTC on Friday 7th July 2023, I tuned in to Radio Vanuatu broadcasting in the Bislama language on 7260 kHz.

Radio Vanuatu is Vanuatu’s national broadcaster’s front-line station. The station commenced broadcasting as Radio Vila in 1966. In 1980 following Vanuatu’s independence, it became Ratio Vanuatu. The station broadcasts in Bislama, English, and French.

The broadcast was coming from the Port Vila 2kW transmitter in Vanuatu.

The overall reception of Radio Vanuatu was very good. The signal strength was very strong.

Pyongyang Broadcasting Station, NORTH KOREA – 4557 kHz

At about 1123 UTC on Monday 3rd April 2023, I tuned in to the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station broadcasting in the Korean language on 4557 kHz.

The Pyongyang Broadcasting Station is the external service of the Radio & TV Broadcasting Committee of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. It is for Korean listeners in South Korea, Japan, and the Peoples Republic of China.

The broadcast was coming from the Pyongyang 50 kW transmitter.

The overall reception of Pyongyang Broadcasting Station was good. There were moderate static crashes on the band from storms in Australia.
