At about 1158 UTC on Sunday 16th July 2023, I tuned in to Myanma Radio broadcasting on 5915 kHz in the Burmese language.

The broadcast was coming from the 50KW Naypyidaw transmitter in Myanmar.

The overall reception of Myanmar Radio was poor – fair. There appeared to be an Over The Horizon Radar on the frequency and adjacent frequencies. There was some interference from CNR5 on 5925 kHz. There were static crashes on the band due to local storms in Australia.

I received this certificate via email this evening. It is issued for having worked 2,344 different WWFF reference areas.

On Thursday morning (20th July) I delivered a presentation via Zoom to the Longmont Amateur Radio Cub in Colorado USA, on QSL cards.

​Thirty six (36) people were in attendance for the presentation, either at the clubrooms or via Zoom.

The presentation included the history of QSL cards, types of QSL cards, and tips on sending out QSL cards.

On Friday evening (21st July 2023) I attended the Amateur Radio Experimenters Group AGM and delivered a presentation on portable operations on Troubridge Island.

I discussed planning leading up to the expedition, what antennas and equipment we used, the results, and lessons learned.

There were nearly 50 attendees (in person and via Zoom).

Electronic QSL card received via email from Radio Nacional da Amazonia in Brazil for my reception of their station on 8th July 2023.

QSL card received from NHK World Japan in the past couple of days.

Interesting that they have not recorded any date, time, or frequency on the card.

I have sent 6 separate SWL reports to NHK for the reception of their station on different frequencies between 2021 and 2023.

There is also Russian? writing on the card. I can only assume that this card relates to the reception I made of NHK World way back on October 2021 on 7355 kHz when they were broadcasting in the Russian language.

I am thankful that I received a card from them after all this time.

At about 0818 UTC on Wednesday 12th July 2023, I tuned in to Hobart Radio International broadcasting in the English language on 5850 kHz.

Hobart Radio International is a shortwave community service relayed across the globe via Shortwave and FM in New Zealand.

At about 0746 UTC on Wednesday 12th July 2023, I tuned in to Ifrikya FM broadcasting in the French language on 15110 kHz.

Ifrikya FM which translates to African FM in French, is an Algerian public radio station. It was inaugurated on the 3rd day of May 2003, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day. Its objective is to give a voice to African listeners, with the slogan “The African voice”. 

The overall reception of Ifrikya FM was good.
